: The Clinical Services and Practice Assurance (Chief Practitioner) (CSPA) branch is responsible for leading practice improvement and the development of clinical support services across child protection and youth justice services for ACT children and young people and their families.As a newly established branch in 2024, the branch will develop workforce systems and service offerings, whilst driving continuous improvement and practice uplift. Service provision conducted in line with the Children and Young People Act 2008, and ongoing ACT Government reform to shift to a multi-agency, family support practice model.
The Practice Guidance and Resources Assistant Director works as part of a team to support the development of practice guidance, resource development and undertaking project work for the CYFS and YJAS branches. The Assistant Director will support the Practice Guidance and Resources Team Leader in communications for internal and external stakeholders, developing practice guidance and resources, managing the CYFS and YJAS Knowledge Portal, and evaluating these activities in supporting continuous improvement in delivering positive outcomes for children, young people and families.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications and/or experience relevant to the role, including Social Work, Psychology, Education or an allied health position (speech therapist, occupational therapist) are desirable but not essential. Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check. This position requires a Working with Vulnerable People Check. Prior to commencing in this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 will be required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable people registrations, refer to Access Canberra. The successful candidate will work in accordance with and uphold the ACT Public Service Values and Signature Behaviours, ACT Government’s Respect, Equity and Diversity Framework and the Directorate’s Work Health and Safety System. Driver’s license Class C is essential.Notes: This is a temporary position available for an initial period of 12 months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. Merit pool: A merit pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
