Purpose of your role

This role will provide an integral source of technical accounting and global tax compliance support for the Group Financial Controller in ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards, global tax regulations and other statutory financial reporting requirements, in addition to monthly and ad hoc accounting needs.  This role requires a strong understanding of Accounting Standards and regulations and the ability to effectively communicate complex accounting concepts to various stakeholders.

What you do

  • Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams on accounting treatment for complex transactions, including business combinations, goodwill and intangibles impairment, and other areas as needed.  Prepare technical memos documenting conclusions and recommendations for management and external auditors.
  • Manage the share-based payment process from a Finance perspective, partnering with the Head of Global Rewards, People and Culture, and Legal teams.
  • Define and implement ongoing Direct and Indirect tax and Transfer pricing strategies to maximise value.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards, global tax regulations, and other regulatory requirements. Continuously monitor and enhance internal controls to safeguard the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Stay up to date with changes in International Financial Reporting Standards, global tax regulations, and other regulatory requirements.  Undertake research to assess their relevance or impact to OFX’s operations and make recommendations for application and initial implementation.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial reporting and accounting operations, working in conjunction with the Finance Systems Manager. Involvement in ad hoc Finance initiatives as required.
  • Provide technical accounting training to finance and other relevant teams to enhance understanding and compliance with accounting and tax principles. Stay informed about industry trends and changes in accounting standards and tax regulations to continuously improve the organisation's accounting practices.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting/business/commerce.
  • CA/CPA qualified.

Knowledge, skills, experience

  • 7+ years of work experience in financial accounting, including technical accounting, controllership, financial services, or similar roles.
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Tax compliance experience, including knowledge of global tax regulations and transfer pricing desirable.
  • Experience in researching and applying complex accounting concepts.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders, including the ability to identify, frame, and confront issues and make recommendations for resolution.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • MS Office suite proficiency required.
