Our client is seeking to employ a Convenience Store Management Team for FNQ remote community. Both opportunities are one-year contract with opportunity to extend. The commencement date is early May.

About the Location

Both locations have culture rich community situated in Far North Queensland. They offer mad fishing and hunting, diverse coastal and inland landscapes, stunning sunsets, and amazing wildlife. Both communities have a school, clinic, general store as well as a club. Both communities are in alcohol managed communities.

What does the role entail?

Retail Operations to ensure compliance and effective store management such as:

  • Stock ordering 
  • Inventory management
  • Cash Handling & cash reconciliation
  • Store WHS requirements
  • Food handling and hygiene
  • Administration and accounts management

Asset management

  • Repairs and maintenance
  • Preventative maintenance programs & schedules organised

Customer Service

  • Effective implementation and management of agreed store customer service standards and procedures

Community Engagement

  • Effective engagement and support of the local community in accordance with Store guidelines
  • Active management to improve the recruitment, promotion, and retention of indigenous employees at store level

Compliance

  • Ensure store compliance with all Store policies relevant to convenience store:
  • WHS
  • Food handling and hygiene
  • Industrial Relations
  • Ranging and pricing
  • Improve store standards and processes, and compliance with store policies and procedures

Systems & Reporting

  • Manage the delivery of agreed weekly and monthly operations reports

Skills & experience needed:

  • Recent retail management experience within remote environments
  • Culturally aware and willing to assimilate
  • WHS knowledge
  • Office management with good computer skills in Microsoft office suite
  • Experience in POS, EFTPOS and ATM's
  • Stock control
  • Background in a remote indigenous community environment is highly desirable
  • Manual Drivers' licence
  • Working with children clearance - Blue Card highly regarded
  • Forklift licence

  • 5 weeks of annual leave
  • Annual salary of $65K to $70K per person plus super
  • Salary sacrificed
  • 10% bonus if reach budget at the end of 12months
  • Staff discount in the store 
  • Company vehicle for work and personal use
  • $750 per person relocation assistance after completion of 6 months 

Important

This is a Residential role NOT a FIFO role.

Please note that this community is subject to some alcohol restrictions. 

This position is open to all Australian Residents with no work restrictions. As this is a long-term contract position, we are unable to process applications from candidates with working holiday visas or those seeking visa sponsorship.
