About Temora Preschool and Out of School Hours

Temora Preschool and Out of School Hours (OOSH) has been a trusted pillar of the Temora community since the 1960s. We cater to 65 children and operate with a collaborative, committee-run structure. We aim to provide a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where children can thrive. At the same time, we ensure our staff feel supported in their professional growth. We are proud of our ability to deliver essential early childhood education and care to local families.

We take pride in our cohesive work environment and dedication to best practices in early learning. By fostering teamwork and mutual respect, we ensure our centre continues to be a positive force in the community for staff and families.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Temora Preschool and OOSH is looking for a Centre Director/Nominated Supervisor on a 12-month contract based in Temora, NSW. The role is ideally suited for someone who can commit to 4 days per week, with flexibility for 3 days if required.

In this pivotal role, you will not only manage the Centre’s daily operations but also maintain stability, ensure proactive leadership, and be willing to immerse yourself in the day-to-day activities on the floor. You’ll build strong relationships with both staff and children, ensuring a smooth, engaged, and enriching learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the day-to-day running of the Centre
  • Maintaining the Centre's budget, including reports and acquittals
  • Overseeing staff rosters, ratios, and records for children and staff
  • Leading staff and committee meetings
  • Organising major events for the Centre
  • Ensuring compliance with the National Quality Framework (NQF) and other regulations
  • Mentoring staff and fostering a high-quality early-learning environment
  • Overseeing our Supported Playgroup alongside DCJ
  • Promoting continuous improvement across the Centre

Who We Are Looking For

To qualify, you will need a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or a recognised ACECQA Early Childhood Teacher qualification, along with a current Working with Children Check.

You will also need:

  • First Aid and CPR Certificates
  • Asthma and Anaphylaxis training
  • Adequate understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
  • Knowledge of the National Quality Standards (NQS)
  • NESA accredited

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience with funding models for community-based preschools and OOSH/Vacation care subsidy schemes
  • Competency in navigating ICT programs
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Leadership experience in a childcare setting
  • Sound budgeting and reporting skills

As our ideal candidate, you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to mentor and lead a team, and a proactive attitude toward problem-solving and continuous improvement. Most importantly, you are willing to be hands-on and involved on the floor, getting to know the children while fostering a supportive and engaging environment for everyone involved.

This is an opportunity for a dynamic and experienced leader who is passionate about early childhood education and is eager to make a meaningful impact on our Centre and the community.

Why join us?

We offer a competitive salary of $45 - $50 per hour, depending on experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

  • 12 weeks off per year, in line with school terms
  • $2000 relocation assistance and a $3000 signing bonus* (conditions apply)
