About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Controller to join our Hunter Class Program delivery team based at Osborne Naval Shipyard, SA.   

Reporting to the Project Controls and Planning Manager, the Senior Project Controller will be responsible for the proper use of the company Earned Value Management (EVM) System so that the project management team can adequately monitor and report on project cost, schedule progress and risk status.

In the conduct of assigned duties, the successful applicant must maintain the goodwill of the Customer and company management, by ensuring that our established EVM processes are carried out to report and manage the project with timely, accurate EVM data.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and maintenance of the Tasking Statement Work Breakdown Structure (TSWBS) and associated WBS Dictionaries.
  • Leading the establishment and maintenance of approved cost and schedule Project Management Baselines (PMB) including the incorporation of approved baseline changes.
  • Leading the development and maintenance of control account structures and associated Responsibility Assignment Matrices (RAM)
  • Undertaking detailed planning activities, including rolling wave planning and developing Control Account Plans (CAP).
  • Leading monthly reporting activities including capturing actuals, status, Estimates to Complete (ETC), and undertake detailed variance analysis in accordance with the business rhythm.
  • Leading Comprehensive Estimate at Completions (CEAC) activities and providing SME advice to CAMs with regards to development and preparation of their inputs and consolidation of program-wide data.
  • Providing support to Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBR) and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) surveillance reviews as directed by the Project Planning and Controls Manager.
  • Ensuring the correct utilisation of Earned Value Management standards, processes and systems to enable timely and accurate monitoring, reporting and performance measurement throughout the project execution lifecycle.

About YOU

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management or equivalent (advantageous)
  • Previous experience as a Project Controller
  • Experience with Primavera P6 and/or COBRA
  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management principles
  • Extensive scheduling and cost experience
  • Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders both internal and external to BAE Systems to implement business requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously under time constraints, solve problems and make decisions
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Current Baseline Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
