UMP looking for a Studio Coordinator to handle the daily operation of the purpose-built recording studio in Woolloomooloo. Reporting to the SVP of A&R, the Studio Coordinator will handle the day to day running of the studio and in many cases engineer recording and writing sessions. The role will enable the successful applicant to develop their skills and experience as they work with many of Australia’s leading songwriters, artists and producers on their demo and master recordings.

The role

  • Daily operation of the recording studio in Woolloomooloo
  • General maintenance and upkeep of the studio equipment
  • Manage basic administration for the A&R Department including making and managing studio bookings, processing A&R cost related invoices, talking with songwriters/management/labels regarding studio bookings
  • Liaising with various departments in the UMPG office and assisting in obtaining necessary songwriter copyright information as needed.

About you

  • A passion and love of music
  • Diploma in audio engineering
  • Proficiency in Pro-tools, Ableton and Logic Pro X
  • Advanced knowledge of modern recording studios technical configuration (patching & session setup)
  • Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability and interest in learning to adapt to new changes in recording technology.
  • Willingness to do general studio ‘runner’ work
  • Preparedness to work extended hours and the occasional weekend as and when writers/artists/producers require
  • Problem solving ability and an ability to handle challenging logistics scenarios and stressful situations.
  • Ability to self-motivate and self-manage workflow.
  • Ability to work within a collaborative and creative team environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • An interest in attending live shows and networking with industry professionals.
  • Experience with Music DSP’s (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, TIDAL)
  • Experience with social media platforms.
  • 1+ years’ experience working in a studio
  • Advanced knowledge of modern recording studios technical configuration ( patching and session setup )
