We are seeking a suitably qualified individual to join our Services and Operations team as Supervisor Capital Works in a Permanent Full-Time capacity.

Located within two hours south-west of Melbourne, Colac Otway is renowned for its magnificent southern coastline, the Otway rainforests and the northern lakes and offers an attractive lifestyle with diverse employment opportunities. This position is based in Colac.

As the Supervisor Capital Works you will ensure that Council:

  • Responds to customer service requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Complies with approved works programs in line with budget responsibilities.
  • Provides a safe work environment for all team members.
  • Provides clear direction for team members and coordinates the daily task across the nominated work sites including all resources, advising plant, materials and personnel requirements to minimise delays and maximise organisational and customer efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the coordination of resources including plant, labour, contracted works and materials required to minimise delays and maximise organisational and customer efficiency in completing works program.
  • Coordinating the day-to-day team management activities in particular focus on business objectives and customer needs.
  • Assisting in the verification of appropriate plant, contractor and materials supplied by clients.
  • The day-to-day supervision of contractors to ensure Colac Otway Shire procedures and policies are adhered to.
  • Assisting Team Leaders in preparation quotations and works costings.
  • Assisting with works planning in conjunction with other team members and Team Leaders when required.
  • Being responsible for nominated works crew accurate completion of timesheets and plant log sheets.
  • Providing clear direction, leadership and accountability to works teams including contractors in accordance with Councils OH&S policies and Safe Work Method Statements to all nominated work sites.
  • Promoting a team culture with an optimistic and positive approach to service delivery and problem solving.
  • Providing and maintain a safe workplace for employees under your supervision.
  • Providing courteous and prompt attention to external and internal customer requests.

About You:

To support your success in this role you will have:

  • Experience in the supervision of Civil Engineering projects including road construction and maintenance.
  • Experience in setting priorities, planning workloads, and meeting deadlines within allocated resources available.
  • Ability to adapt to increased responsibility and respond positively to changing work practices.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team to achieve set targets and goals within budget constraints.
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management – ensuring accurate record keeping and monitoring of budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability of the use of electronic computer systems and willingness to learn new systems.
  • Ability to effectively lead, motivate and support work teams.
  • A current manual driver's licence is essential.

Salary information: $74,285.74 to $84,259.80 per annum plus superannuation including industry allowance.
