The Natural Areas Team have an exciting 12-month part-time term contract opportunity working 2 days per week as Natural Areas Officer-Bushcare.
About the role
As the Natural Areas Officer-Bushcare you will be responsible for the coordination of Bushcare volunteer activities, and community education in particular as they relate to natural resource management, bush regeneration and protection of ecological communities throughout the Parramatta Local Government area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and resource the volunteer Bushcare program including recruitment of Bushcare volunteers through marketing, media opportunities and National Tree Day Events.
- Develop Action Work Plans for the Bushcare Groups and review and update as needed.
- Develop, conduct and manage environmental education programs, events, workshops and related resource materials that relate to natural areas management.
- Produce regular informative and educational material to promote and share with the Bushcare volunteers and wider community.
- Prepare applications, project manage and administer grants as required.
- Coordinate procurement activities associated with the delivery of Bushcare and related programs.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- Degree qualification in Environmental Science or a recognised natural resource/ environmental management related field.
- NSW Class “C” Drivers License
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising volunteers, natural resource management and bush regeneration activities.
- Demonstrated innovative and creative approach to developing and implementing volunteer programs.
- Sound understanding of key environmental legislation.
- Ability to liaise with a diverse range of community groups and volunteers to provide education on relevant natural resource issues and projects.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to research and investigate matters in a methodical manner and able to convey information to others.
- Ability to manage personal work priorities and professional development with minimal supervision.
What’s on offer
12-month Part-Time Term Contract Opportunity (2 days per week).
We are offering an attractive remuneration (Pro-Rata) from $101,563 to $111,820 plus 11.5% superannuation.
