About the role:

This primary objective of this role is to support the effective and efficient operation and management of the Institute’s HVAC and mechanical services at all campuses. Key accountabilities include contract and contractor management for mechanical and HVAC system maintenance, adhoc and project works, provision of subject matter expertise on upgrades and improvements, compliance with OHS standards, oversight of work quality, contract deliverables andreporting.

The role carries out ad hoc facility investigations, including HVAC fault finding and BMS operation, and actions daily Trade and Technical work order requests at the Box Hill Campus which may include Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical as required.

This position will be instrumental in supporting the Institute develop, progress and achieve sustainability targets, energy efficiencies, building tuning and emissions reduction for plant and equipment, and contributes to asset management lifecycle planning and upgrade initiatives. This role is required to actively participate in and contribute to a cohesive and high performing team and work cooperatively with others within the Infrastructure portfolio and the wider Institute.


About You:

A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Services, HVAC or Engineering coupled with equivalent hands on work experience in HVAC maintenance is essential. Vocational qualifications in Facilities operations or the building trade are highly desirable. Level 2 First Aid Qualification or willingness to undertake such training is desirable. If you are appointed to this position, you will be asked to provide details of a current Level 2 First Aid qualification, or you will be asked to undertake Level 2 First Aid training at the earliest available opportunity. Expertise:
 HVAC, Mechanical and Technical Services: Significant experience in managing a range of maintenance activities, minor works, projects, and resources inaccordancewithoperational Demonstrated ability to critically assess systems and propose sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency improvements driven by data and performance assessment. Plumbing and Hydraulics: Experience in this area would be highly desirable but is not considered mandatory for the role. Contract Management: Demonstrated experience and commercial acumen in managing contracts, agreements and performance management of contractors. ProjectSupport: Ability to contribute to asset lifecycle planning. This includes anticipating and managing potential and emerging issues in the mechanical and HVAC services space.
