The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Springhill Manufacturing facility is looking for a Reliability Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics) in our Paint Finishing Department (PFD) Maintenance team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
The painting and finishing department at Springhill is the final process in the manufacture of Colorbond, where coils of steel are painted with our world leading Colorbond coating process and then packaged and despatched to our Australian & International customers.
This rare opportunity welcomes engineering disciplines coming from either Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics, with a background in heavy industrial/manufacturing maintenance. Reporting to the PFD Asset manager, in this role you will operate within a multi-skilled team focusing on the delivery of sustained improvement in process uptime and unit cost reduction to our plant assets. To ensure operational productivity and asset improvement targets are achieved, you will bring an integrated and comprehensive approach to elimination of defects, identifying and leading improvement projects, coaching team members while minimising risk to the business.
What Will You Do?
Leading and supporting your team to deliver on equipment reliability targets and asset performance, you will:
- coach & mentor maintenance team members by identifying and closing technical knowledge gaps
- provide Automation control system technical support, advanced problem-solving and fault-finding
- analyse plant and equipment performance data for patterns and ensure recurring problems are resolved and effective solutions are institutionalised
- lead and facilitate multi-disciplined teams to identify and implement asset and cost improvement projects
- supervise maintenance activities and strive for business improvements and manufacturing excellence
- develop, maintain and improve the maintenance strategy and capital project plans to increase reliability and minimise cost
- identify and lead cost reduction activities by identifying and implementing strategies to improve the efficiency of the R&M spend, develop and update maintenance lifecycle plans for critical equipment
- build effective relationships to drive the continuous reliability of our HSM assets
More About You
You will hold a degree qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering combined with suitable experience in relevant maintenance within manufacturing or heavy industry. Therefore, you will have:
- tertiary qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or you could be a well-versed industrial tradesperson with a Diploma of Engineering.
- a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself, your team and others
- experience working in a similar industry within Maintenance, with a strong focus on defect elimination and equipment reliability
- experience or exposure pending your engineering discipline with fault finding PLCs and motor control systems,
- the ability to work both independently and as part of a manufacturing team, to influence peers and colleagues to meet operational requirements, scheduling and people demands
