Are you ready for a challenge that merges your project management experience and negotiation skills? Then the Northern Land Council (NLC) has an opportunity for You We are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Officer (SPO) within our Resources and Energy Team.
About the Role
As an SPO, you will oversee projects within the resources and energy portfolio. You will be responsible for consulting with Traditional Owners ensuring that they are fully informed of any proposals and that their rights are fully protected. You will drive technical assessments, manage contracts, engage with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with the Aboriginal Land Rights Act (NT) 1976 (ALRA) and the Native Title Act 1993 (NTA)
What you will Bring
Working knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation affecting Aboriginal land and sea management in the NT including ALRA and the NTA. Proven experience in consultation, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and mediation techniques and practices. High level cross cultural, interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Proficient ICT literacy skills including familiarity with Content Management Systems, Microsoft 365 and associated software.
In addition to this, you will have: -
- A degree in a relevant discipline such as Geology, Engineering, Sociology, Anthropology, business or equivalent experience
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role, including project management.
- Previous experience in at least one of these sectors: onshore petroleum; energy and /or minerals is a plus
- Current C Class Drivers Licence and the ability to travel remotely via 4wd and light aircraft.

We offer
- A base salary of $98,725 per annum plus 14.5% superannuation and salary sacrificing up to $15,900 + Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2,650 per year.
- Other benefits under our Enterprise Agreement include:
- District allowance of up to $4,797 per annum for individuals with dependents and $2630 without dependents.
- 5 weeks annual leave, leaving loading, 18 days personal leave;
- Paid Christmas close down;
- Upon completion of 12 months of service an Annual airfare with a net (in hand) value of $2961;
