About the Role
The University of Melbourne is deeply committed to advancing reconciliation and reciprocal learning with Indigenous peoples and communities. With the introduction of Murmuk Djerring, the University’s Indigenous Strategy 2023-2027, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2030, and Anti-Racism Commitment, the University is rolling out a large-scale leadership and education program for all staff over the next two years to strengthen our culture and commitment to eliminating racism.
This education program sits within the OIED and is a cornerstone initiative that will support our leaders and staff in understanding their roles and responsibilities in ensuring the Indigenous students and staff feel empowered and valued, culturally safe, and treated with dignity and respect.
As Design Lead, you will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate learning solutions for the Gahgook Indigenous Cultural Education Program. You will be responsible for working with internal and external specialists in Indigenous cultural education and anti-racism education to co-design learning solutions. Additionally, you will work collaboratively with the Indigenous Strategy, Diversity and Inclusion, Human Resources, Marketing and Communications teams and other stakeholders internal and external to the University.
You will also have:
Designing and developing the Gahgook Indigenous Cultural Education Program learning experience through collaborative co-design processes with internal and external experts in Indigenous cultural education Designing and implementing the evaluation framework for the Program and ensuring the qualityof learning content and delivery Applying innovative learning solutions to meet the needs of diverse stakeholdersAbout You
We're seeking an experienced Design Lead who can build sustainable, effective working relationships with stakeholders at various levels. You will possess strong sensitivity, empathy, maturity, and judgment, essential for working on cultural changes and managing confidential information. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are also vital for this role.
You will also have:
The appointee will have well-developed knowledge and understanding of Indigenous societies, cultures and issues affecting Indigenous Australians and the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous Australian students, staff, community Elders and Indigenous community organisations. Relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in leading similar L&D/OD programs at scale, in a complex organisation. Well demonstrated experience in designing and implementing capability development, learning programs and strategies, within a complex organisation Well demonstrated understanding of the principles and application of adult learning theory and experience working with external partners to co-design learning programs.
