The Position
The Field Service Engineer would be responsible for providing in service support to the Australian Defence Force's Wedgetail Program.
The role is responsible for:
- Managing and providing engineering input into the maintenance and troubleshooting of the MESA Radar and IFF System within the System Verification and Validation (SV&V) Laboratory at RAAF Base Williamtown.
- Managing, developing and providing engineering input into proposed changes to Aircraft Maintenance Procedures for the MESA Radar and IFF System at RAAF Base Williamtown (Primary Role)
- Interfacing with and providing on-call support for the AEW&C Support Facility (ASF) at RAAF Base Williamtown (Primary Role)
- Managing and performing collation and distribution of maintenance records (primarily repair data) for subcomponents of the MESA Radar and IFF System at RAAF Base Williamtown (Primary Role)
- Managing and performing investigations into subcomponents of the MESA Radar and IFF System at RAAF Base Williamtown (Primary Role)
- Managing and providing engineering input into the conduct and review of S-Matrix collections at RAAF Base Amberley (Primary Role)
- Managing and providing engineering input into the maintenance and development of computer-based toolsets to support the MESA Radar and IFF System at RAAF Base Williamtown (Primary Role)
- Managing and providing engineering input into the preparation, configuration and maintenance of engineering laptops for maintenance and testing of the MESA Radar and IFF System (Primary Role)
- Managing and providing engineering input to the preparation for and conduct of Ground and Flight Testing on the MESA Radar and IFF System at RAAF Base Williamtown (Secondary Role)
- Providing occasional (backfill) over-the-shoulder assistance in Radar/IFF system support (including troubleshooting and operational checkout), removal and inspection of hardware, inspection of the MESA antenna, and reassembly of the hardware, with occasional shift work (Secondary Role)
- Providing deeper level maintenance and modification engineering support as required on the MESA Radar and IFF System at RAAF Base Amberley (Secondary Role)
- Participating in the conduct of radar/IFF installation checkout, functional checkout, and aircraft data collections during deeper level maintenance as required at RAAF Base Amberley (Secondary Role)
Essential
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering or related experiential qualifications.
- Five or more years of experience on electronic systems including testing, installation, troubleshooting and operations. (Highly Desirable)
- Experience with Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) framework. (Highly Desirable)
- Experience working in an ITAR Controlled environment. (Highly Desirable)
- Demonstrate a high level of initiative, including highly developed skills in system fault finding.
- Skills in producing technical documentation and instructions/reports.
- Experience in the use of technical manuals, schematics, engineering drawings, digital design and test, analog design, test and RF principles.
- Experience in using common hand tools and commercial RF test equipment (Network Analysers, Spectrum Analysers, Peak Power Meters, Signal Generators etc.).
- Strong IT skills, with past exposure to both Windows and Unix-based systems.
- Experience in IT system administration, preferably Windows-based. (Highly Desirable)
- Experience in software maintenance and development. (Highly Desirable)

To be eligible for this position you must be:
- An Australian Citizen
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA clearance - NV1 with a potential to obtain NV2
The successful candidate MUST be able to obtain a clearance prior to commencement.
