• Permanent / Fulltime role
• WA Wheat Belt – Moora, Western Australia
• Fulltime – $70k – $90k depending on qualifications and experience p.a. + superannuation (10.5%) + accommodation + work vehicle

The property is located 180km north of Perth and has 3 farming Enterprises: A mixed grain Enterprise, a commercial merino sheep-for-wool Enterprise and a merino sheep stud Enterprise.

The position is for a full-time experienced Senior Farm Hand to join the business, with opportunity for progression within the property.

The successful candidate must have a strong history of farming experience. Applicants that grew up on a farm will be favourably considered.

Reporting to the Farm Principal/Owner, the successful candidate will be responsible for the daily farm operations on a property spanning 10,000 acres comprised of 50% commercial cropping (wheat/canola/barley), and 50% merino sheep (10,000 head, including a Merino Sheep Stud).

The property is managed by both the Principal/Owner and a co-manager in a dual-managerial system. They work closely together to allocate all strategic planning and day-to-day operations. There are also two additional farm-hands. Together, the team-of-four participate in all farming activities.

The Principal/Owner and the co-manager lead by example and encourage a culture whereby everyone helps each other in all farming activities, no matter how difficult or undesirable the job. The successful candidate will also be required to conduct themselves within this cultural framework.

The Principal/Owner and the co-manager are very determined to find a top quality person for this role. They both have very high ambitions for the property and will demand that the successful candidate be dedicated, and have an equal passion, to share in building and fulfilling the potential of the business.

General farm activities will include:

• Cropping
• Harvesting
• General stock handling
• Mechanical and repair work
• Fencing, clearing and rock picking
• Welding and workshop activities
• Other general farming activities

Cropping Enterprise responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Cropping and general seeding work including tractor driving and spraying
• Harvest related activities including header, truck and chaser-bin driving
• Paddock preparation including clearing and rock picking

Sheep Enterprise responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Stock husbandry
• Feeding of rations
• Maintaining condition score of sheep
• Paddock rotation for stock
• Monitoring and management of worms
• Electronic record keeping and analysis
• Water maintenance
• Planning and management of shearing, crutching, and mating.

Responsibility and accountability will be paramount for these activities.

The successful candidate will be required to integrate into the property’s collaborative culture where strong communication skills and a strong work ethic is mandatory.
