About the role

The Design Manager Signalling will lead the design delivery process from concept to as-in-service design for work packages. This position ensure that stakeholder management and supplier relationships are effectively maintained, aligning with project obligations for a seamless testing phase.

This role is responsible for guiding a team of professionals to execute internal design activities safely, adhering to standards and requirements, while staying on schedule and within budget. The focus on delivering the most effective outcomes for V/Line and its stakeholders, prioritising, quality, time, and cost efficiency.

This role requires site visits and testing support when required.

Key accountabilities include:

· Design Delivery : oversee design process from Concept Design (CD) to Issued for Construction (IFC).

· Compliance : ensure all signalling design packages adhere to client standards, product manuals, project scope, and Australian V/Line standards.

· Team Management : handle the daily workload of the signalling design team, delegate technical information requests to the appropriate Subject Matter Expert (SME).

· Stakeholder Engagement : manage Requests for Information (RFIs) and designs and set realistic stakeholder expectations.

· Project Planning : prepare programs and cost estimates for potential projects.

· Collaboration : work with the Networking Engineering Team to maintain the design delivery program and assist Delivery Project Managers with reporting, timelines, budgets, and costs.

· Documentation Management : establish processes for documentation and deliverables completion.

About you

We’re looking for a Design Manager Signalling who embodies strategic foresight and visionary leadership, guiding the design journey from inception to fruition while ensuring it aligns with our project goals.

You must be stakeholder-centric, adept at navigating stakeholder expectations and ensuring transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle. Organisational skills and proactive planning are paramount, as is the ability to collaborate effectively with other engineering teams for the seamless integration of designs.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

·Proficient in Signalling Principles and program management.

·Skilled in articulating contractual requirements to design teams.

·Capable of resource management to meet project goals.

·Effective in leading and coordinating design teams.

·Committed to upholding health, safety and environmental standards.

·Strong in stakeholder management and communication.

·Exhibits leadership in design and team management.

·Collaborative, fostering open relationships for team motivation.

·Identifies opportunities for team capability enhancement/.

·Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.

Qualifications

·Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Communication or a related form of Engineering.

·RPEV accreditation or in the process of acquiring it.

Remuneration for this role is from $160,400 inclusive of superannuation. We are open to salary negotiations aligning with relevant skills, experience and overall suitability to the role.
