With a continued focus on the future, Michael Hill is looking for an energetic and career-focused Senior Planner to join our Global Merchandising Team in Cannon Hill Brisbane.

The Senior Planner role oversees the planning function within Metals, including leadership & mentorship of a small planning team and the hands-on planning of the Gold category. This role will drive strategies that maximise sales & profit whilst simultaneously managing inventory health, data integrity and achieving closing inventory budgets.   

This is a key leadership role that will partner with the Planning Manager and Senior Planner of Gems to drive business-wide optimisation and planning best practice. They will also work closely and collaboratively with the Buyers and Planners within Metals, setting commercial frameworks that bring strategies to life and achieve set financial outcomes. 

More about the opportunity:

Partnering with the Senior Buyer to oversee, lead and represent the Metals merchandise team.

 Provide leadership and guidance to the product category planners within the metals portfolio to ensure overall achievement of Metals KPIs and continued professional growth and development of the team.

 Working alongside Senior Planners and Senior Buyers to drive process improvement within the Merchandise space including representing & leading projects and initiatives in the wider business.

 Within your category

•                Develop category and product level sales, GP and inventory plans, including pre season strategy and budget setting and in-season re-forecasting 

•                Alongside Buyer, development of product assortment with a focus on customer centric ranging with high in-stock availability ranged to the right store tiers and within set options and budget

•                Plan delivery & product phasing to ensure entry and exits are executed with space, inventory, realistic sell down plans and GP maximisation considerations 

•                Management of OTB including maintaining an accurate financial WSSI, quantifying and placing monthly core replenishment at product level, quarterly newness quantification, ensuring spend aligns with budget

•                Drive enhanced reporting and analysis with a focus on attribute level learnings and actions. Lead pre, in & post-season reporting and analysis including weekly trade meetings, monthly commercial reviews and bi-annual post season reviews. 

•                Ensuring data accuracy at all times by taking proactive steps to understand the end to end systems, overseeing Planning Assistant schedule audits and conducting SKU maintenance and checks as required.

 The successful applicant will ideally have:

•                Extensive Planning experience in a retail environment 

•                Strong business acumen supported by advanced system, forecasting, analytical and reporting skills including in Excel

•                Inquisitive nature with a natural ability to identify anomalies

•                Solutions focused approach to problem solving 

•                Ability to lead a planning team & work alongside buying team with collaborative open approach

•                Positive and caring leadership style with experience developing junior planning team

•                Ability to prioritise and set internal timelines for self and team and achieve deadlines and critical path
