The Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH) is Australia’s largest and most distinguished animal referral and emergency Hospital. Over the past 14 years, SASH has developed a reputation that is globally renowned. Building on this reputation, we have strived go further, and recently opened our new Alexandria hospital, offering gold standard patient care across Sydney. We are in the process of developing a brand-new state of the art Emergency and ICU facility. With these exciting new developments, we have also moved to empower and develop our management structure, to continue to provide an exceptional level of care to help pets and their families lead their best life.
About the Position:
With this new structure exciting opportunities have come up for experienced nurses to step up into an Emergency and Critical Care Team Leader position, to work closely with the Nurse Manager and other Nurse Team Leaders focusing largely on the clinical aspects and working closely with our Nurse Leadership team to ensure the smooth running of the day to day. Responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:
- Working with the Nurse Manager and Nurse Team Leaders to manage day to day staffing
- Lead and manage the ECC team alongside another ECC Nurse Team Leader
- Conduct 1-1 meetings, mentoring and support to the team
- Admission & triage of emergency patients
- Providing support for all medical procedures on critical care patients for the day or night
- Provide on the job training and coaching to develop team members
- Plan and perform anaesthesia for unstable or critically ill patients
- Management of Client communication upon admission and discharge
- Perform treatments and post-operative care
- Communication with clients when admitting and discharging a patient
About You:
We are looking for a someone who can work independently with a reliable, adaptable and proactive approach to situations. To be successfully selected, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar Emergency, referral or after-hours care environment
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work as a part of a team or autonomously
- Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and effectively balance competing demands in a professional manner
- Effective problem solving, decision-making and time management skills
- Great work ethic and commitment to the culture and values of SASH
- Experience in a leadership position or senior role managing a team
- Experience using EzyVet (desirable)
