About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a Sport and Recreation Officer on a permanent part time basis of 45.6 hours per fortnight to join our friendly team. This role is a 12-month, maximum term contract based at our Coniston head office, ideally commencing 13th January 2025.

The Sport and Recreation Officer is responsible for ensuring the provision of high-quality services that are person-centred and based on the individual needs and choices of the participant and their family. This role will require you to oversee and review the facilitation of Sport and Recreation program participants receiving group supports from The Trust, with an emphasis on health and safety, inclusion, and independence.

As the Sport and Recreation Officer you will facilitate a variety of activities for children and adults living with disability with the aim of building sporting skills, strengthening social bonds and creating healthy, balanced lifestyles for our participants aligned with their goals and interests. You will primarily be responsible for coordinating, organising and facilitating both centre-based and social group-based activities, including the KidsWish, Sports Ready and Self Advocacy programs.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A flexible and innovative approach to plan, coordinate and evaluate program activities.
  • Passion for all things sport and recreation and be a collaborative and creative self-starter.
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and interpersonal.
  • Experience within the disability sector is favourable, but not essential.

  • The base salary for this role is between $37.35-$40.05 per hour(based upon relevant experience and qualifications) plus superannuation.
