Melbourne, Australia Wilderness Society Full time

The Wilderness Society is looking for a Victorian Campaign Manager.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Victorian Campaign Manager is part of a highly dedicated and collaborative team focused on the long term protection, promotion and restoration of nature and wilderness. The Victorian Campaign Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation of the Wilderness Society Victorian Campaign Centre and leads and mentors staff in naarm / Melbourne to support and deliver the Wilderness Society’s campaign agenda in Victoria.

The Wilderness Society has a solid track record of protecting some of Australia’s special land and sea Country. Now, we’re seeking an experienced Campaign Manager to identify powerful pathways for the community to exert pressure on governments and businesses to deliver change for land, water and seascape systems.

In doing this work, you’ll bring a commitment to establishing and strengthening dialogue with First Nations Peoples for all aspects of our campaigns.

While supporting the ongoing development and implementation of the Organisational Campaign Plan (OCP), you’ll have a key focus on protecting natural icons within Victoria, and work with colleagues across the country to deliver strategic interventions for other continental campaigns.

You excel at working with others across diverse communities and environmental groups. You’re a dab hand at applying designing and communicating campaigns—through the media, with the community, and into government and business. You’re curious about the science—social, ecological, and political, and willing to investigate legal avenues to advance campaigns.

You enjoy leadership, strategy and campaign implementation. You value strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagement, and excel at effective presentation. You’re happy to be part of a team that takes pride in collaboration and healthy culture. And you can ensure work health and safety and compliance issues are covered.

HOW WILDERNESS SOCIETY SUPPORTS OUR STAFF:

You’ll be doing meaningful and important work with one of Australia’s successful nature conservation organisations.

Our approach to diversity is simple—it’s about embracing everyone. From building a culture where all employees can bring their best selves to work to deploying initiatives that support the different needs of our staff, we’re doing what we can to build an inclusive world for all.

We are a supportive and inclusive workplace with excellent conditions, including:

5 weeks of annual leave per year

15 days personal leave

3 additional leave days at end of year

Floating public holidays

Genuine flexibility in working hours and location with support for office and/or remote working

Generous Paid parental leave (subject to eligibility conditions)

Commitment to supporting your professional development

Access to Long Service Leave after five years of continuous service

Access to our Employee Assistance Program

Regular 1:1 meetings for coaching and management support

Performance conversations for reflections and growth

When you start, a co-developed initial 3 month work plan

PLEASE APPLY IF YOU:

Have a can-do attitude, with the ability to learn new skills and adapt to new contexts quickly

Can drive your own areas of work

Are ready to take up the invitation and the challenge of the role

Are comfortable working to rapid response timelines

Are eager to grow your skills, experience and the organisation’s impact

Are able to give and apply feedback

Bring a dedication to transforming Australia into a society that protects, respects and connects with the natural world that sustains us.

If you identify as a First Nations person, a woman, LGBTIQ++, a person with a disability or if you are from a culturally and linguistically diverse background, we strongly encourage you to apply.

A position description is attached that details the essential and desired skills.

Applicants must have the right to live and work in Australia to be considered for the role.

The closing date is 4 May at COB
