Senior Advisor to the Lord Mayor

About the Role
As the Senior Advisor to the Lord Mayor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the Lord Mayor’s positive relations with internal and external stakeholders, including the management of correspondence, community engagements, media and social media.
As this position provides high level direct support to the Lord Mayor, including attendance at events on behalf of, or to support, the Lord Mayor, flexibility will be required for in office attendance that may be higher than the standard requirements across Council.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and analysis to develop policy proposals and project-related advice for the Lord Mayor.
- Provide strategic advice and manage relationships with key city stakeholders
- Prepare high-quality analyses, reports, briefings, and presentations for the Lord Mayor
- Manage the Lord Mayor's correspondence, communications, and social media content
- Coordinate with the Lord Mayor's support team to ensure consistent guidance and assistance
- Liaise with Members of Parliament, industry, and community groups on policy issues.
- Manage complex and politically sensitive information with confidentiality, diplomacy, and tact.
- Maintain good governance to ensure risks are mitigated and planning, reporting and statutory compliance is achieved.
About You:
- A Degree qualification in policy, government or business, or relevant experience in a highly politicised environment.
- 5 years’ experience providing advice and support to elected representatives or senior executives.
- Experience in a political context and understanding of Local Government.
- A strong understanding of local government functions and political processes.
- Exceptional communication skills, with experience in preparing speeches, briefings, and strategic reports.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver outcomes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Previous experience working in Government is essential.
What’s on offer
We are offering an attractive remuneration from $134,101 to 147,701 plus 11.5% superannuation.

This role requires a strong onsite presence to ensure operational excellence and high-quality service delivery.
