The Centre for Applied Climate Sciences (CACS) is a world-class research group in climate science and the application of climate science in agricultural decision making.
This is a unique opportunity to join the Northern Australia Climate Program research team, working with the grazing industry to deliver innovative research, development and extension outcomes in managing drought and climate risk.

What you’ll do
In this position you will initiate, develop and conduct climate research and extension work of relevance to the northern Australia livestock grazing industry. The projects will include climate science and management of climate variability, extremes and change, drought resilience and preparedness, livestock physiology and environmental heat and cold stress.
What will help you succeed
Your initiative and excellent communication skills, combined with your ability to work independently and collaboratively with fellow researchers and external partners, will be vital to your success. Additionally, you will have:
- It is essential you hold a doctoral or master’s qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing in the relevant field including Climate Science or Applied Climate Science
- Demonstrated professional experience and/or research expertise in climate variability and change or applied climate science related to agriculture
- Demonstrated experience in presenting research to industry

Location: Toowoomba campus
Term: Full-time fixed-term appointment to 29 May 2026 (37.5hrs/week)
Salary: One appointment will be made at Level B or Level C, dependent on qualifications and experience.
Level B: Total remuneration range $125,372 to $148,185 pa (includes salary range of $105,933 to $125,209 pa, employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary and annual leave loading)
Level C: Total remuneration range $152,744 to $175,557 pa (includes salary range of $129,061 to $148,337 pa, employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary and annual leave loading)
