Our Centre for Health Research utilises an interdisciplinary approach to health issues that have the greatest impact on communities, especially in regional Australia. From mental health and wellbeing to aged care, sport and exercise, artificial intelligence, health economics, health biomarkers, and cancer survivorship, the Centre aims to better understand, prevent, and support health in regional and priority populations.

**The opportunity**

**What you’ll do**

Your research will be focused on Work Package 1 which is centred around integrating and evaluating resourced clinical and community psychosocial support. You will:

- Produce focused, mixed methods research outputs that contribute to high quality fundamental or applied research to meet the requirements of Work Package 1.
- Oversee higher degree research supervision and completions.
- Engage in externally funded research projects and/or secure external research funding.
- Develop external relationships with academics from partnered institutions and research centres, in addition to community and industry representatives.
- Participate in impactful engagement and service activities linked to the Research Project.

The Research Project will conduct a robust psychosocial service evaluation which will result in an evidence-based and reproducible psychosocial model of care for people with IVSCs.

This important research will:

- Improve the quality and ongoing accessibility of affirmative physical health, mental health and wellbeing services for the IVSC community, including those with intersectional disadvantage.
- Enhance peer-led and clinical psychosocial services to meet community expectations.
- Provide evidence to support informed decision-making in clinical and peer-led settings.
- Establish mechanisms to improve self-knowledge, service continuation, community engagement and improved agency in health-seeking behaviour across the lifespan.

**What will help you succeed**

Together with your relevant qualifications, key to your success in this role will be your knowledge of the provision and evaluation of psychosocial support services and associated health, social services, legislative and community sectors relevant to marginalised populations and/or project target population with IVSC. You will also have:

- Professional experience and/or research expertise in a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in publishing impactful research that advances understanding of marginalised/vulnerable populations or delivery of targeted services or psychosocial interventions.
- High level oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, relating well to people at all levels using diplomacy, tact and sound judgement, with an ability to build constructive and effective relationships.
