About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Lecturer in Research. This is a dynamic role that balances teaching and research responsibilities, ideal for candidates from diverse health-related backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching (40%): Provide high-quality research teaching and support for medical students at the Toowoomba Regional Clinical Unit.
  • Work closely with the Academy for Medical Education in developing and reviewing the MD Program's research curriculum.
  • Research (40%): Maintain personal academic standing, including the pursuit of research and scholarship.
  • Review and draw upon best practice research methodologies.
  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Communicate research opportunities for students as part of their curriculum and extra-curricular research.
  • Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.
About You
  • Bachelor's degree and PhD, preferably in a health-related discipline.
  • Experience in undertaking or facilitating research, including progression of research publishing, translation, and impact.
  • Demonstrate design of effective learning materials in research (methods) education.
  • Demonstrated research-relevant knowledge and skills with expertise in a wide range of specialist and general research techniques, including qualitative data analysis methods.
  • Developing track record of contribution to the supervision of students in research, including enrolled HDR candidates.
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, colleagues, and the wider community.
  • Evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.
  • A commitment to and an understanding of the issues surrounding living and working in a rural and/or regional area.
  • A growing profile in research discipline that is transferable to rural health, including contribution to successfully seeking, obtaining, and managing external research funding.
