: ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS) is seeking a highly motivated and conscientious individual to join the Detainee Services Unit as the Senior Detainee Employment Officer (ASO6), at the Alexander Maconochie Centre (AMC).Under the limited direction of the Director, Industries, the successful applicant will monitor the detainee employment program, with the view to increasing detainee industry and employment engagement. You will also be responsible for supervising and performing all of the administrative functions in relation to detainee employment including weekly payroll, detainee employment records, rosters and other related functions.
In addition, you will perform risk assessments relating to detainee engagement in employment activities, including, keeping vulnerable detainees safe, ensuring the safety and security of the centre is maintained and modifying duties and tasks to meet the detainees’ physical capabilities.
Further to this, you will be responsible for conducting internal audits of the detainee payroll, to ensure accuracy and transparency, as well as reviewing all detainee employment related decisions.
To be successful, you will demonstrate strong administrative capability, have the ability to think and act in a busy operational environment and possess excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills necessary to build rapport with a diverse range of stakeholders.
