About the role

This position is dedicated to the thorough maintenance and management of Train Control and related Operational Control Systems (OCS), guaranteeing their maximum availability and reliability. As a specialist in vendor-specific software and equipment, the Systems Administrator is instrumental in maintaining the integrity of OCS and SCADA environments, which are critical for the safe and efficient movement of trains.

In collaboration with various business units, the Systems Administrator (OT Control Systems) will maintain, identify, design, build, implement, deliver and manage technical solutions and information systems.

Key accountabilities include:

·Analysing and resolving technical issues in Train Control, signalling, and communication systems.

·Maintaining and documenting the Train Control systems infrastructure, including servers, workstations, and networks

·Developing and enforcing maintenance strategies and system security protocols to ensure system integrity.

·Collaborating with IT teams for optimal hardware and software procurement.

·Supporting system upgrades and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.

·Upholding maintenance standards and achieving system performance and reliability goals.

About you

We are seeking someone who embodies a combination of analytical expertise and problem-solving abilities. You will possess exceptional organisational skills, coupled with exceptional interpersonal and communication capabilities. You are a highly self-motivated individual who thrives in both independent scenarios as well as in team settings.

Additionally, you will exhibit a sharpened ability for engaging stakeholders effectively, demonstrating the skills to interact and build relationships with individuals at all levels of the organisation to drive operational success.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

·A solid foundation of at least 3 years of experience in providing technical support to internal business clients, with a preference for backgrounds in IT or OT systems infrastructure.

·Proficient in the administration and management of IT systems infrastructure with hands-on experience in SCADA Control Systems, rail signalling systems, telecommunication systems, and networking infrastructure maintenance.

·Demonstrated expertise in managing Virtualisation Platforms such as VMWare or Hyper-V, comprehensive understanding of networking concepts including LAN, WAN, and network devices across layers 2 and 3.

·Familiarity with Remote Access Technologies like RDP, Terminal Services, VNC, TeamViewer, and Netop, as well as proficiency in SQL Database Management.

·Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.

Qualifications (Highly regarded)

·Tertiary Qualification in Information Technology – Systems Administration or Computer Systems.

·Electrical, Technical Diploma level.

·Rail and Tram Signalling Systems Certificate IV / V

·CCNA qualified.
