Job Description

Overview

Rapiscan Systems is an industry leader in detection technology, providing cargo and vehicle inspection systems and services for ports, borders, military, high-threat facilities, and checkpoints to help customers combat terrorism, drug smuggling, illegal immigration, and trade fraud. We offer a broad array of scanning system configurations that leverage low-, medium-, and high-energy X-ray technology – or multiple X-ray technologies – to address each customer’s unique security application requirements. Our commitment to excellence in imaging performance, innovative design, and uncompromising quality ensures our solutions consistently deliver best-in-class imaging, high reliability, and operator satisfaction, to help customers find threats and contraband with ease and confidence.

Responsibilities

As a Technical Project Manager within our software team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects that enhance our security x-ray systems. You will work closely with software engineers, product managers, and other key stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. Your role will involve managing project timelines, resources, and risks while facilitating communication and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Execution: Develop detailed project plans outlining scope, timelines, resources, and deliverables. Manage project execution from initiation through to completion, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets. Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for project-related activities. Coordinate with software engineers, product managers, QA teams, and other stakeholders to align project objectives and address any issues that arise. Resource Management: Allocate and manage project resources effectively. Track project progress and adjust plans as needed to address any deviations or challenges. Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Proactively address and resolve issues to prevent project delays and ensure successful outcomes. Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with project stakeholders. Provide regular updates on project status, milestones, and deliverables. Facilitate meetings and ensure all team members are informed and aligned. Quality Assurance: Ensure that software projects meet the required quality standards and specifications. Collaborate with QA teams to develop and execute testing plans and resolve any defects or issues. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, reports, and meeting notes. Ensure that all project-related information is accurately recorded and accessible. Continuous Improvement: Evaluate project outcomes and processes to identify opportunities for improvement. Implement best practices and lessons learned to enhance future project performance.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) preferred. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within a software development environment, preferably in the security or imaging technology industry. Proven track record of managing complex software projects from initiation to delivery. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum). Familiarity with software development tools and platforms (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Git) is required. Project Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Experience in risk management and resource allocation. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, manage conflicts, and drive project success.
