Here's what you'll need
Jacobs is seeking a Technical Director - Substations to lead our efforts in positioning Jacobs at the forefront of Substation Design to meet the requirements of energy transition activities within the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. This role is pivotal in shaping our technical practice and delivering innovative solutions that provide superior value to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a regionally recognised technical discipline in Substation Design
- Assure the quality of technical outputs through the appointment and management of Technical Leaders
- Shape the direction of the technical practice based on future-focused insights and thought leadership
- Provide technical leadership in Sales and actively participate in Client engagement
- Identify, manage, and mitigate technical risk exposure to the business
- Collaborate with APAC Power Technical Directors to develop a leading regional technical practice
- Develop and implement strategies to harness diversity and inclusion, succession planning, and mentoring
- Deliver innovative and robust technical solutions for substation projects (11kV to 330kV)
- Contribute to proposals, bids, and business development opportunities
- Provide mentoring and technical support in your area of speciality
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (CPEng or actively working towards it preferred)
- Minimum 15 years of industry experience, preferably in consulting or power utility environments
- Recognized technical specialist in substation engineering by industry and peers
- Extensive knowledge of Australian Standards relating to HV substation design
- Experience with substation primary and secondary systems (11kV to 500kV)
- Understanding of protection schemes, IEC61850, and primary plant technologies
- Knowledge of substation construction & commissioning methodologies
- Experience in substation earthing systems design, lightning protection, transformers, busbars, and switchgear
