The Melbourne Racing Club (MRC ) is one of Australia's most prestigious Sports, Events and Property Development companies. As well as running elite horse racing at Caulfield, Ladbrokes Park (Sandown) and Mornington Racecourses, we own 13 pub venues under the Pegasus Leisure Group (PLG), an emerging collection of owned events such as The Peninsula Picnic and Whiskey, Wine and Fire and finally the MRC Foundation, our charitable arm.
Reporting to directly to the General Manager – Sales & Partnerships, the Sales Manager for Non-Race Day is the driving force behind helping deliver strong commercial outcomes for Caulfield and Sandown Racecourse non-race day business unit.
Working within the broader Commercial team, the role will manage inbound and outbound business development opportunities focusing on maximizing activity within the Racecourses 365 days a year.
This role requires a dynamic and results-oriented individual with exceptional sales and management skills. The Sales Manager will work closely with clients, event planners and internal teams to ensure the successful execution of events and maximize revenue opportunities.
Duties and responsibilities
Develop and implement a strategic sales plan to attract a diverse range of clients for venue hire at Caulfield and Sandown Racecourses. Conduct sales presentations, negotiations and contract discussions with potential clients. Monitor sales performance, analyze data and provide regular reports to management on sales activities, revenue forecasts, and market trends. Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the non-race day portfolio. Resolve customer complaints or issues in a timely and satisfactory manner, ensuring customer loyalty and retention. Build and maintain relationships with existing clients, fostering long-term partnerships and ensuring high client satisfaction. Lead and motivate a sales team, providing guidance, coaching and training to enhance their sales skills and performance.Skills and Experience
3-5 years’ Experience working in a large-scale Venue in a Sales capacity. Proven successful track record in venue sales. Established network within the Business events industry. Excellent communications skills. Ability to lead and partner with sales and operational teams. Ability to understand, manage and deliver budget requirements. Working knowledge of Emergency Management and OHS systems. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends (if necessary).What’s in it for you?
