Job Description

Join TAL’s People and Culture team as a People and Culture Business Partner. This is 12-month contract, reporting to the General Manager, People and Culture. Together, the People and Culture team work to create a culture that is high performing, confident, and creates exciting opportunities for our people.

In this role, you will be responsible for coaching, guiding, and supporting senior leaders and people managers across the business as well as partnering with members of the executive leadership team to identify, surface, and raise any people related insights.

In this role you will: 

  • Work with the People and Culture Team to implement TAL’s People Priorities as part of the strategic operating plan.
  • Build trusted relationships with business unit partners, so that people programmes and activities are respected, add value, and drive business outcomes.
  • Support the business in delivering strategic change initiatives, these can include structural and cultural change programs that align to business priorities and needs.
  • Leverage the technical competence of colleagues in the People and Culture team (e.g. Centres of Expertise) to deliver best-in-class people solutions to the business.
  • Plan and communicate strategic, tactical, and business-as-usual people activities in a practical and common-sense way to ensure business engagement and mitigate disruption.
  • Deliver the annual events – remuneration review, performance management, talent and succession management, development planning – in a timely way.
  • Complete an ongoing review of the interdependencies between performance and talent management strategies and translate these into actions at a macro and micro level.
  • Have strong networks and outstanding stakeholder management skills to collaborate with and draw on expertise across the People and Culture function.
  • Actively build and promote a team culture of compliance and risk management awareness and appreciation within the People & Culture team.
  • Work with the People and Culture Consulting team to drive and deliver appropriate ER/IR outcomes in partnership with the business as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience partnering with executives and senior business leaders to deliver on business priorities
  • Proven ability partnering and supporting large scale business areas with high volume frontline teams such as call centres and sales
  • Significant experience in managing people related change programs including structural and cultural change programs
  • Proven ability to establish excellent working relationships with key partners, sound consulting, influencing and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience in the Insurance Industry/Financial Services, desired
