About the Opportunity

Working within a professional and dynamic team, engaging with key stakeholders and cross function teams the Senior Commercial Advisor, is responsible for leading and developing commercial agreements and providing commercial advice in all commercial aspects of contracts and commercial relationships in support of the ASC extensive program of activities.

You will provide an integral contribution to the commercial delivery of the future nuclear-powered submarines build and sustain program activities.

Responsibilities

The role has principle accountability for supporting the development, negotiations and implementation of ASC Commercial Agreements in accordance with the provision of the contract arrangements. .

In doing so, you will be required to engage across the broader ASC business and our stakeholders in order to build and manage key relationships essential in providing ASC and our customers with successful outcomes.

On a day to day basis, your activities will be varied and you will need to apply your broader commercial acumen to advise and deliver outcomes on work streams as you generating value from new commercial contracts and provide a tangible contribution to the attainment of ASC business objectives.

You will be required to contribute to strategic activities, provide direction on contract compliance, governance and risk management.  

As part of your professional development and as a member of the Commercial Team, you will be provided with opportunity to lead as you assist with the growth and development of less experienced team and program members.

About you 

  • Tertiary qualifications from an accredited tertiary institution in law, business management or related discipline or equivalent experience in a complex asset management/development environment.
  • A minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in a commercial, legal or business advisory role or managing and developing complex contracts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and prioritize accordingly.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and developing complex contracts including resolution of highly complex issues to achieve a positive commercially focused outcome
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting agreements and managing commercial risk
  • Demonstrable high level verbal and written communication skills
  • Autonomous, goal directed and capable of managing multiple priorities with limited direction
  • Proficient in both written and verbal communication and possess excellent negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Capable of building strong business relationships

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals. Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
