We currently have a rewarding opportunity to join us as a Commercial Manager within our Maritime Australia line of business. You will be supporting our Commercial Function working on a high profile programs with lots of stakeholder engagement. This role will be based out of our Osborne Shipyard.

**Your new role**:
Using your strong commercial experience you will be managing significant commercial issues and leading commercial negotiations along with driving the implementation of BAE Systems commercial policies and practices and the assurance of adherence to functional governance requirements. You will have the rare opportunity to work across 3 platforms of the Royal Australian Navy's vessels being Destroyers, Frigates and Patrol Vessels.
More specifically, you will
- Manage contract activities including negotiation of contract change and management of claims
- Ensure that the business's financial and commercial exposures are addressed through appropriate commercial contract frameworks such as export controls, finance, product safety (including insurance) and intellectual property rights
- Support to all Contract and Bid Status Reviews to justify, explain and clear ongoing commercial contract activities
- Support to all contract activity including the drafting and negotiation of complex terms and conditions and associated agreements with customers ensuring the interests of BAE Systems Australia
- To be able to access and have a clear understanding of the Quality and Health and Safety Management Systems documentation
- Manage contact activities including negotiation of contract change and management of claims
- Drive BAE Systems' commercial policies and practices, including the assurance of adherence to functional governance requirements
- Draft moderately complex contracts / agreements with little supervision
- Be responsible for day to day management of contracts within commercial area of relevant BAE Systems Australia businesses
- Ensure compliance with Export Control requirements
- Be accountable for delivery of contract budgets and explaining both under spends and over spends to senior management
- Be responsible for ensuring that contract activity is undertaken in accordance with BAE Systems Australia Operational Framework and relevant business unit commercial processes including Life Cycle Management and Request for Bid Approval
- Undertake contract interface with customers
- Have responsibility for delivery of commercial interface with Procurement/Supply Chain and flow down of commercial contract requirements
- Support and develop junior members of the team
- Be responsible for preparation and delivery of Commercial Management Plans
- Support to all commercial agreements to support team activity
- Hold responsibility for preparation of negotiating strategies and lead negotiating teams

About you

**As an applicant for this opportunity, you'll have**:

- Significant experience in a Commercial role preferably in Defence or engineering organisations
- Organised professional with sound commercial acumen with an ability to influence stakeholders whilst maintaining key relationships
- Strong analytical and problem solving skill with an ability to motivate the team across number of business areas to shape and implement the business requirements
- Strong communicator and negotiator with an ability to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer and business requirements
- Degree Qualified - preferably in business, commerce, law or similar discipline
- An excellent understanding of how the commercial function integrates with other functions
- A willingness to learn and support the development of junior colleagues
- An ability lead and guide a team or work independently with little supervision and guidance and using their own experience, judgement and initiative
- An ability to lead or support moderately complex negotiations
- An appreciation of the business market and domain knowledge relating to the commercial solution
