An exciting opportunity has become available for a Shop Assistant to work at Villawood Immigration Detention Centre. In this role, you will support the Canteen Coordinator to ensure smooth and efficient operations in the canteen. This is a casual position. We require full flexibility for this role and the ability to work weekends.
As a Shop Assistant you’ll make a positive impact by:

  • Utilising and understanding localised till sales point systems
  • Ensuring customer’s points are updated prior to recording sales and updating customer’s records to reflect accurate spend allowance
  • Packing and recording of stock to deliver to customers in other secure locations
  • Maintaining stock levels, replenishing, and cleaning sales areas as well as assisting in monthly stock takes
  • Ensuring compliance with Serco and DIBP/FDSP Codes of Conduct, policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring the shop is open for business at the required times and that excellent service is provided to all customers
  • Being efficient and organised with goods, as well as receiving and handling invoices

  • Proficient in Microsoft Officer suite, particularly in Excel and Word
  • Proven experience in delivering high-quality customer service with a friendly and approachable demeanour
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive work environment
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage various tasks and maintain a clean and orderly canteen
  • Excellent communication and numerical skills
  • Prior experience working in a canteen, cafeteria, or similar food service environment is highly desirable
