Appointment Pool
Pineview Community Kindergarten are seeking to establish a pool for Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.
As an Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) you will assist teachers in delivering planned education programs and encouraging a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Suitable applicants should assist students to access the educational program and have an increased understanding of the multicultural nature of the learning environment. You will act as liaison between the community and school to develop an educational program relevant to both educational and cultural needs, and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, particularly those at risk, through mentoring and pastoral care to encourage participation and achievement at school. Suitable applicantS should be culturally responsive and assist school staff in the implementation of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework.
Suitable applicants will ideally have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of cultural awareness and be a strong team player.
They will ideally have a hardworking and professional approach to the role and should be reliable and flexible, whilst providing support and effective assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their parents/guardians, teachers, the college, and the community through the knowledge, understanding and sharing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, language, and culture.
Community Kindergartens offer an alternative to government school-based kindergarten programs. We operate our kindys from purpose-built buildings and playgrounds designed to nurture children’s development in a caring community environment. Our kindys are strongly focussed on play-based and nature-based learning and our passionate teachers and education assistants are dedicated to helping your child to develop their social skills and a love for life-long learning.
We focus on the individual needs of 3 to 5 year-olds. Community Kindergartens are unique in that the staff and curriculum are provided by the Education Department and overseen by the Principal of a linked school. Each individual kindy, however, is run by a parent committee
