The Department of Education, Western Australia is seeking a dedicated and passionate Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer to join our team. As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for our Indigenous students.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement culturally relevant educational programs that empower Indigenous students to reach their full potential.
- Provide support and guidance to Indigenous students, particularly those at risk, to encourage participation and achievement in the classroom.
- Work closely with teachers, students, and families to develop and implement effective education programs.
- Conduct home visits to discuss the academic progress or social development of students and provide orientation to staff about the Indigenous community.
- Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with students, teachers, parents, community members, and professional staff.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact on a range of levels in a variety of settings and with different audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a school-level team and to provide multi-cultural direction in the development of the educational program.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively assist teachers in implementing educational and behaviour management programs.
