About the Role
The APS5 HR Generalist plays a crucial role within the People & Culture division. This position requires an individual who is adept at managing their workflow and making independent decisions within their area of responsibility. The HR Generalist will provide policy advice based on relevant policies and legislation and perform various administrative, clerical, and operational tasks.

  • Respond to inquiries from EL2 approvers requiring support with declared conflicts and proposed mitigation strategies.
  • Assist EL2 approvers in conversations where a Conflict of Interest declaration is declined.
  • Analyse reports and develop insights for HR Business Partners, HR Risk, and Compliance teams to identify trends and educational opportunities.
  • Manage and respond to a variety of employee issues and inquiries following the Enterprise Agreement, work practices, and relevant legislation.
  • Provide advice and support on various P&C functions, including performance, systems, and processes.
  • Conduct technical research and contribute to P&C policies and supporting materials, ensuring compliance with policy, Agency culture, and values.
  • Assist in developing learning materials such as guides, information sheets, and other resources.
  • Participate in P&C Communities of Practice meetings and activities.
  • Support culture and inclusion initiatives, including event promotion and communications.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on P&C measures, activities, and processes.
  • Support the management of P&C processes, including recruitment, conformance, and advice.

About you
To thrive in this role, you need:

  • Demonstrated ability to research and interpret information.
  • Competence in managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to analyse and assess detailed and sensitive information.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities supported by evidence.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using technology and information management systems to achieve team outcomes.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with Service Desk (Jira) or ticket system software is advantageous.
  • Understanding of conflict of interest in a workplace setting is advantageous but not compulsory.
  • Ability to contribute constructively to team activities and cultivate productive relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Be able to pass and hold a national police check and worker screening check.
  • Must be an Australian Citizen.
