Claims Adjuster - Property/Expert(e) en sinistres - Assurance de biens

PRIMARY PURPOSE : To handle losses and claims for property and casualty insurers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

Examines insurance policies and other records to determine insurance coverage. Interviews, telephones, and/or corresponds with claimant and witnesses regarding claim. Consults police and hospital records and inspects property damage to determine extent of company's liability and varying methods of investigation according to type of insurance. Estimates cost of repair, replacement, or compensation. Prepares report of findings and negotiates settlement with claimant. Recommends litigation by legal department when settlement cannot be negotiated. Attends litigation hearings. Revises case reserves in assigned claims files to cover probable costs. Assists in preparing loss experience report to help determine profitability and calculates adequate future rates.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs other duties as assigned. Supports the organization's quality program(s). Travels as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Obtain IIA-AIC designation within 12 to 18 months. Appropriate province adjuster license is required.

Experience

1 to 2 year experience Proven adjusting, negotiating skills and analytical skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Advanced computer skills including office, outlook and web based applications

OBJECTIF PRINCIPAL  : Traiter les pertes et les réclamations pour les assureurs de biens et de risques divers.

FONCTIONS ESSENTIELLES et RESPONSABILITÉS

Examiner les polices d’assurance et autres documents pour déterminer la couverture d’assurance. Interviewer, téléphoner et/ou correspondre avec le requérant et les témoins concernant la réclamation. Consulter les dossiers de la police et des hôpitaux et inspecter les dommages matériels pour déterminer l’étendue de la responsabilité de la compagnie et les différentes méthodes d’enquête selon le type d’assurance. Estimer le coût de la réparation, du remplacement ou de l’indemnisation. Élaborer un rapport présentant les conclusions et négocier un règlement avec le requérant. Recommander l’introduction d’un litige par le service juridique lorsqu’un règlement ne peut être négocié. Assister aux audiences sur le litige. Réviser les provisions du dossier pour les réclamations attribuées, afin de couvrir les coûts probables. Aider à l’élaboration du rapport d’expérience de perte afin de déterminer la rentabilité et de calculer les taux futurs correspondants.

QUALIFICATIONS

Formation et accréditations
Préférence pour les titulaires d’un baccalauréat obtenu auprès d’un collège ou d’une université accrédité Obtention de la désignation IIA-AIC dans un délai de 12 à 18 mois. Licence d’expert(e) en sinistres provinciale requise.

Expérience

1 à 2 ans d’expérience Compétences avérées en matière d’expertise en sinistres, de négociation et d’analyse Excellentes compétences interpersonnelles et de communication Compétences informatiques avancées, y compris avec Office, Outlook et les applications Web
