We are seeking an experienced and innovative professional, with proven knowledge and proficiency in leading teams and programs to support children, care teams and schools. With qualifications education, you will be familiar and connected to school systems and student support services for children and young people living in Out-of-Home Care.

About The Position

The Access Ed and Thrive Programs are education support service for children living in care services. Our Education Specialists work in collaboration with young people, schools and external stakeholders to support the engagement and achievement of education goals.

Reporting to the Education and Engagement Programs Director, the Access Ed and Thrive Team Leader will work closely with the MacKillop Education and Engagement leadership team and is responsible for the delivery of high-quality services to provide positive educational outcomes for children, young people.

This position is supported by the Education and Engagement Programs Director and will be a valued member of the Programs Leadership Team.

The Access Ed and Thrive Program Team Leader is responsible for the leadership, supervision and management of the programs team. This will include, but is not limited to:

  • Lead and effectively manage all the operational and strategic aspects of program contracts and reporting requirements.
  • Build positive culture and engagement of our staff through effective people leadership and management at both the team and individual level.
  • Work with the Mackillop Education and Engagement leadership team and stakeholders to apply a continuous improvement approach to service delivery.
  • Identify and manage risks to programs or service delivery.

Must Have

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, with higher studies in education preferred
  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, ensuring child safety and compliance with all child-safe standards for an education provider
  • High-level interpersonal skills, with a capacity to develop positive relationships with young people, carers and colleagues
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in improving educational outcomes for children and young people, at risk
  • Demonstrated ability to work in the best interests of children and young people, with schools and education and government departments, including MACS, DET and DFFS.

Required

  • Valid and current Driver’s Licence.
  • Valid and current Working with Children Card.
  • Valid Victorian Institute of Teaching Registration (as required)
  • Valid and current NDIS Worker Check (for NDIS risk assessed roles).
  • Satisfactory criminal history check conducted by MacKillop Family Services.
