About The Role

People Business Partners at ABN play an important role in facilitating and leading strategic change. Reporting to the General Manager- People, you will join a high performing team to provide effective HR business partnering to the leadership team and key stakeholders. This role is key to enabling our business model.

Our business partner team is responsible for taking Group strategy, applying their expertise and experience to best service our business units and deliver our people strategy. From marketing, sales, operations, building and finance, the business units teams work together to learn from each other’s strengths, share successes and continuously improve. This is a permanent role based at our Victorian Head Office in Docklands.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and integrate the people function into business plans and support delivery of the ABN People strategy,
  • Highlight the implications of business goals and ensure plans are in place to tackle risks, challenges and opportunities,
  • Ensure the right capabilities, frameworks and ways of working are in place to deliver plans,
  • Partner with the leadership team to drive employee engagement in your business units,
  • Identify opportunities, review and reshape how functions operate to support their growth and increase their effectiveness,
  • Facilitate and lead projects relating to organisational change and transformation,
  • Lead the talent agenda for your business units, understanding key talent, their strengths and development needs,
  • Support the ABN framework for talent reviews and support the development of succession plans for key roles,
  • Champion the ABN high-performance culture across your business units,
  • Work with teams in your business units to identify skill and capability gaps and relevant and deliver relevant L&D solutions,
  • Ensure effective recruitment strategies and build the ABN employee value proposition into business units,
  • Ensure quality, customer-led, pragmatic and efficient HR support and manage complex IR cases,
  • Contribute to overall people agenda and relish new tasks that fall broadly within role purpose.

About You

You will bring solid experience in HR Partnering, typically supporting commercial business units providing both operational and strategic HR support, ideally in a multifaceted organisation. Demonstrating experience that shows the ability to develop, own and implement people strategies across multiple business areas with strong results is key along with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders. You are a great relationship builder who connects effectively across a range of senior professional and operational leaders and personalities and can work effectively across business unit locations.

Previous skills & experience:

  • Experience in business partnering with demonstrated ability to improve organisational capability by implementing new organisational design thinking, tools and methods and coaching senior leadership to implement,
  • Change leadership experience providing frameworks, influence and challenge to senior teams to identify and drive through organisation change,
  • Experienced at working with speed, pragmatism and professionalism, ideally in a solutions-led culture,
  • Experienced in leading career, probation, talent development, remuneration and benefits discussions and coaching leaders at all levels to confidently manage,
  • Thrives in a fast paced, ever-changing business, is comfortable with ambiguity,
  • Clear business acumen and passion and can develop and articulate a People agenda to drive positive outcomes in collaboration with peers,
  • Open, practical and pragmatic. Able to balance a high volume of conflicting priorities and works with energy and pace,
  • A confident and strong communicator and influencer with an inherent ability to gain commitment of others,
  • Can manage a broad range of stakeholders,
  • Degree qualification will be well regarded but is not essential.
