The Venue

Located in the heart of Randwick, The DOG (or Duke of Gloucester) is a local institution. An iconic area favourite, it’s sits alongside Totti’s and The Royal Bondi, Coogee Pavilion, and The Paddington Precinct in Merivale’s growing eastern suburbs portfolio. Featuring over 30 beers on tap, The DOG is a haven for beer-lovers from across Sydney serving next-level pub classics from its bistro with a warm local vibe.

The Opportunity

Merivale is after an experienced Operations Manager to head up the entire operation across the venue.We need someone who is a strong and passionate leader, not afraid to roll up their sleeves working in venue alongside their team in order to better understand and drive guest experience, strategy and growth

Reporting into the venue manager, you will run the day-to-day operations within main bar around all things people, product and performance. Your day could look like anything from management of compliance, to curation of F&B menus, to stocktakes and audits, to driving team training and initiatives, to collaborating with industry leaders around achieving company visions and goals

At The DOG, we work together as a team to provide exceptional experiences for the guest, and always provide feedback to one another. This role will suit a passionate hospitality professional, who can adapt to a range of service styles and product offerings within the one venue.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a minimum of 2+ years in a similar management position
  • Have exposure to managing large teams in a high-volume club or bar
  • Be ultimately accountable for aspects of your venue's P&L
  • Have a strong focus on delivering high standards and exceptional product
  • Be hands-on and operational
  • Be responsible for developing the skills of the staff around product knowledge, service skills, team culture and guest relationships
  • Have strong stakeholder management skills
