•Assisting students and campus employees via the phone, email and in person. As well the ability to communicate with 911 or non-emergency numbers to provide the appropriate response.
•Dispatchers also provide administrative office support and must be able to perform various secondary administrative and clerical duties.
•The ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills, experience in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to remain calm and in control within a busy professional workplace. Department of Security Dispatchers works within a 24 hour, 7 days a week operation and due to the nature of the position, Dispatchers will be expected to work an 80 hour pay cycle with a fluctuating schedule: inclusive of holidays, nights and weekends.
•Administrative experience, dispatch experience, computer knowledge in Microsoft Office; Excel and Word, and familiarity within our industry is preferred. Security, military, law enforcement, correctional, medical, dispatch and/or administrative support experience is favored.
Job Responsibilities:
Answer multiple phone lines, dispatch officers to appropriate locations using a two-way radio, on and off campus, for daily calls and emergency situations. Assists walk-ins with their inquiries following established procedures. Provide safety awareness through daily contact with the university community and visitors by providing general safety information, directions, and parking information. Dispatch officers to all emergencies, coordinate law enforcement, medical and /or fire assistance, provide a proactive role after the emergency has concluded, and make appropriate notifications on campus as directed. Utilize the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system as appropriate. Provide clerical support as needed, special projects, scanning and data entry Other duties as assigned. May be required to work during emergency situations, which may require the dispatcher to remain at the university until the emergency situation has terminated. Work designated alternate hours and perform other responsibilities as needed.Requirements
