About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for three (3) newly created HSE Advisor roles to join the Health, Safety and Sustainability team at InvoCare – one each in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. 

Reporting to the National Safety and Environment Manager, this Melbourne based role will be at the forefront of providing support to line management to proactively execute business strategy in relation to health, safety and environment practices and positively influence culture throughout the organisation.

Key responsibilities include

  • Implementation of HSE Strategy, Plan and Initiatives in line with assigned timeframes across Vic/Tas locations
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including line managers, team members, HSRs, Committees, and other HSS team members
  • Act as internal advisor; promoting and coaching with respect to HSE program implementation, and risk management
  • Provide support to Operational Management and teams on a day-to-day basis
  • Utilise strong facilitation, coaching and influencing skills to achieve desired HSE outcomes
  • Implement the audit and assurance programs according to schedule, including close out of associated non-conformances and observations.

What you’ll bring:

Essential qualifications, skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in an HSE discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a large, diverse and multi-site organisation
  • Broad understanding and working knowledge of WHS, Environment and Workers’ Compensation legislation in relevant jurisdictions
  • Demonstrated results in improving safety culture and HSE performance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing health, safety, and environmental challenges

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

  • Lead ICAM investigator qualification or similar
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Relevant State Return to Work Coordinator trained
  • Experience in the development of risk assessments and facilitating associated workplace consultation
  • Strong ability to consult and deliver results
  • Able to influence at a local and regional level
  • Experience in conducting internal audits
