About Central Functions

About Health, Safety & Environment and Your Role

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) team ensures we operate safe working environments for all THG employees and visitors. They provide on-site support to manage risks, conduct audits, and maintain compliance with health and safety regulations. The team is also responsible for achieving and maintaining environmental compliance to prevent financial and reputational damage.

The HSE Advisor role reports to the THG site lead and the Group Director of HSE. Day-to-day, the HSE Advisor will collaborate with the site management team, providing competent HSE support to all core site activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop site-specific HSE strategies, programs, and plans
  • Proactively monitor and challenge standards to promote continual improvement, supporting environmental management matters, and compliance with environmental legislation
  • Perform regular Health, Safety & Environment audits and inspections
  • Relay findings to the HSE Central Management and local management teams
  • Implement immediate corrective actions and oversee further preventative and corrective actions to eliminate root causes
  • Advise and support colleagues on their statutory duties
  • Assist in developing the company HSE Management system
  • Involvement in contractor vetting and other contractor management processes
  • Assist in developing and implementing HSE policies and procedures
  • Assist with accident/incident investigation, root cause analysis, and reporting for corrective actions
  • Conduct and review chemical assessments
  • Assist in the fire risk assessment process
Requirements:
  • Recognized Health & Safety qualification at Diploma level or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of experience in occupational safety and health support and management
  • Good communication skills and the ability to influence change
  • Good working knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental Regulations
  • Previous experience in warehousing or manufacturing
  • Keen problem solver
  • Adaptable
  • Good IT skills
  • Environmental qualification is desirable
