Mainline Locomotive Driver

Job Description 

Reporting to the Depot Manager, the position includes the following responsibilities: 

• Safely drive locomotives on assigned routes, ensuring compliance with all railway signals, traffic regulations, and operational procedures.
• Ensuring safe & efficient shunting activities
• Inspect the locomotive and equipment before departure, ensuring that everything is in good working order.
• Perform assigned duties in accordance with SCT Rail’s policies and work instructions.
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation of train movements and operational data.
• Commitment to safety in the workplace
• Ensure compliance with all of SCT’s OHS policies, procedures and applicable state and federal legislation
• A strong customer focus orientation
• Be able to work in a team environment and in some cases unsupervised

Desired Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Certificate IV in Train Driving
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Current Track Access Permit (TAP)
• Valid Driver’s License
• A strong commitment to safety.
• Be reasonably fit and agile to meet the demands of the job.
