Our Customer Markets Retail Regulation team provides regulatory compliance advice and support to ensure that we meet the retail energy regulatory requirements while maintaining excellence in customer service.

We are seeking an experienced Regulatory and Compliance Manager to join our team and lead our efforts in engaging with regulators in response to investigations, providing and supervising the provision of high-quality compliance advice, and proactively partnering with internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading a high performing team of regulatory compliance professionals who support the retail energy business, ensuring that regulatory frameworks are translated and implemented effectively.

What you'll be doing:

  • Coach and empower team to drive a high performance and engaged culture.

  • Lead, motivate and mentor direct reports, creating alignment to strategic direction.

  • Manage responses to regulator enquiries and information requests.

  • Deliver quality regulatory compliance reporting, and support for the investigation and remediation of compliance incidents.

  • Monitor industry-wide regulatory actions and provide strategic advice to business units.

  • Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to implement new regulatory obligations and expand into new markets.

  • Assist with education programs across our retail energy business to promote understanding of regulatory requirements.

About you:

  • Previous demonstrated experience within a legal or compliance leadership role – highly desired.

  • Legal degree or other relevant qualifications in law or compliance – highly desired.

  • Knowledge of the retail energy industry and regulatory frameworks – highly desired.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders.

  • Outstanding literacy skills and experience in the preparation of written reports.

  • Excellent presentation skills, both oral and written.

  • Ability to make decisions and drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
