About the role:

The Technology Operations team is currently seeking a Principal Data Governance to join them on a Monday – Friday roster based at Perth. Reporting to the Manager Applications, you will be responsible for establishing and overseeing the data governance framework, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance across the organization. This role will drive the development and implementation of data policies, standards, and practices to enhance data quality and support strategic decision-making.

Duties:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Provide implementation guidance on data quality initiatives, including establishing data quality standards, conducting data profiling, and defining data quality rules and metrics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data ownership and stewardship roles.
  • Monitor compliance with data governance policies, standards and metrics
  • Conduct regular data audits and assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Provide guidance and training to business users and stakeholders on data governance best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead data governance initiatives and projects to improve data management processes

Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in roles related to data governance, data management or similar
  • Experience in implementing data governance frameworks, tools and technologies.
  • Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Technology, Business or related field is desirable but not essential.
  • Professional certifications in Data Governance or Data Management (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) desirable
  • Experience in overseeing data quality, stewardship, and compliance with regulations/industry standards
  • Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders including vendor management
  • Mining or Resource Industry background desirable but not essential
