The Change Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a tailored communications strategy with a strong organisational change element to support successful adoption of the innovation culture at UNSW, including utilisation of AI and other emerging technologies to support innovation. They will work cross functionally across the UNSW IT teams and the wider UNSW community to ensure key business stakeholders are engaged and supported in innovation enablement. The Change Communications Manager is focused on delivering human centred change and reports to the Director Engagement and Change or Change Lead, with a dotted reporting line to the Director Innovation Enablement.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:

Develop a fit for purpose change communications approaches appropriate to the complexity of the proposed changes. Lead the change communications process through its entire lifecycle, including continuous assessment of the effectiveness of the plan and identification of alternative approaches. Initiate and facilitate stakeholder engagement, to ensure the voice of the customer is heard and implemented into the product design. Develop and deliver a tailored communications and engagement strategy with a strong organisational change element to support successful adoption of Innovation culture and enabling technology. Plan, develop, and implement communications to inform and support impacted stakeholders and customers. Consult and work collaboratively with key stakeholders and utilise subject matter expertise to develop and deliver communications deliverables. Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including divisional and faculty leadership teams and corporate communications team Utilise an effective mix of traditional and digital communications mediums, tailoring to impacted stakeholders’ preferences where required. Provide support to the implementation of a mindset and culture plan, along with corresponding capability uplift, fostering a culture of innovation, customer centricity, and collaboration. Supporting a culture of innovation by role modelling experimentation and innovative change approaches, techniques and mindset. Produce high-quality communications deliverables and ensure change execution activities are delivered within set timeframes. Coach and influence leaders to become great communicators to effectively engage their people through the implementation of change. Actively seek feedback to help measure the effectiveness of stakeholder engagement and communications activities Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct. Ensure hazards and risks psychosocial and physical are identified and controlled for tasks, projects, and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility.

Skills and Experience:

Tertiary qualification with extensive experience in change communication management to support organisation change and technology related roles. Keen desire to learn and experiment with emerging technologies and interest in the culture of innovation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced across a range of different communication channels such as Microsoft Viva Engage, MS Teams, and email newsletters. Some exposure to human centred change and/or organisational development would be an advantage. Demonstrated experience in distilling complex information into simple messages with the ability to tailor content for a variety of audiences. Ability to function effectively and independently with the capacity to take responsibility, exercise judgement and proactively address and resolve problems as they arise. Ability to work in a highly adaptable and consultative manner, working in a collaborative way to deliver the best outcomes. Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to navigate through competing deadlines. An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines. Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
