FARM WORKER – Agricultural Technician, Farm Mechanic - Location: Lower Light SA 5501

About the roles
You will be based on our farm in South Australia’s Mid North, working predominantly at that location but may be required to work occasionally, 30 minutes away at our other farm, not far for Adelaide City.
Agricultural Technician
We are seeking an experienced agricultural technician with solid diesel experience as well as a good understanding of hydraulics, some experience in refrigeration emergency repairs will be well regarded.
Ideally, you will have 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role. The work involves undertaking repairs and maintenance to a wide range of agricultural vehicles and equipment including tractors, trucks, headers, cold-rooms and associated agricultural equipment. Duties involve but are not limited to: Diagnosing faults in diesel engines, transmissions and mechanical parts; Performing maintenance services on vehicles and agricultural equipment; The ability to adapt machinery to suit a purpose, including making of unique components to suit; Testing and diagnosing vehicles and equipment for operational efficiency; Undertaking repairs on farm including some welding as required; ordering spare parts for vehicles and equipment.
Farm Mechanic
We are seeking an experienced mechanic with solid diesel experience as well as a good understanding of hydraulics, some experience in refrigeration emergency repairs will be well regarded.
Ideally, you will have 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role. Your average working week will comprise of many things as is typical on a farm, you may be rebuilding a tractor engine or 3PL, welding up broken steel mounting brackets and then drop everything to make running repairs on our cool room or the computer controlled growing sheds until the refrigeration guys can fix it properly and back to that diesel engine you started stripping down before checking out maintenance issues on our composting machinery or farm vehicles. Duties involve but are not limited to: Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines, machinery and parts; Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, and referring to service manuals as needed; Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve reliability of farm vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations; Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance; Diagnosing and testing parts with the assistance of computers where required; and you may be required to respond to company vehicle breakdowns.
The Farms
The farms have excellent staff amenities away from the work area and you will be encouraged to make use of these during breaks. Note also that there are quarantine measures in place to avoid cross contamination or introduction of unwanted pests into the growing sheds.

· A competitive remuneration will be offered relative to your experience and skills The range will be:
o Agricultural Technician - between $65,000 and $80,000+ per annum plus government regulated superannuation at 11.5%
o Farm Mechanic - between $65,000 and $75,000+ per annum plus government regulated superannuation at 11.5%.
