About the Role

We have two Part Time (0.5/0.6 EFT) Butterfly Neonatal HDU Clinical Support Nurse roles available. One will be in an ongoing capacity and the other Fixed Term. Please specifiy in your applicaiton your preference.

This role provides designated bedside education and support to facilitate the development of skills and knowledge based competence and confidence for nurses working principally in the HDU area of the Butterfly Neonatal Ward. By creating an environment based on clinical enquiry and nursing excellence for this specialist patient cohort your expertise will contribute to improving outcomes for some of the States most vulnerable infants and their families.

In this role you will work in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Managers and other members of the Butterfly Neonatal Education team, playing a key role in the development and operationalisation of a supportive career development pathway within our Neonatal HDU. In addition you will contribute to both local and wider hospital based education programs such as the Graduate Nurse Program and the Career Advancement Year Program.

Classification for this position is RN28, Clinical Support Nurse (FTE base salary $102,278 per annum, plus superannuation).

What you'll achieve:

  • Support the delivery of excellence in nursing care by working alongside new & existing staff to develop their skills, knowledge, abilities, and attributes providing direct clinical support
  • Contribute to RCH nursing patient care protocols
  • Coordinate, develop, and provide education for the ward and hospital wide in-service sessions, and professional development sessions and days
  • Contribute to nursing & patient care protocols and guidelines
  • Collaborate with NUMs and staff to identify the education needs of the unit and develop a unit-based education plan

Your skills and experience:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Profession al practice Portfolio
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of adult learning and learning management systems
  • Extensive acute paediatric clinical experience
  • Relevant postgraduate certificate/diploma in Nursing, Education, Paediatrics or equivalent
  • Small or large group teaching experience
  • Proficient in the use of the Electronic Medical Record
