About Infection Prevention and Control

The Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) service is responsible for collaborating with staff and patients to implement the Preventing and Controlling Infections Standard.

About the role

As a Clinical Nurse Consultant you will work within a multidisciplinary team focused on promoting evidence-based practices. You’ll support the service by taking on a leadership role, working in collaboration with the Infectious Diseases (ID) team and will contribute to the professional development of other members of the IPC nursing team, acting as team leader when required. 

You’ll play a key role supporting this unique patient population of patients, and will enjoy being part of a cohesive team within the dynamic environment that is the Women’s. 

A regular day will see you: 

Lead IPC education and support other IPC team members Provide recommendations relating to IPC patient management, liaising with the ID team Contribute to IPC auditing activities, education and document development

About you 

You will be someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

You’ll bring with you:

Registration as a Division 1 Nurse or Midwife with AHPRA A Post Graduate certificate or higher in Infection Prevention and Control or equivalent in Public Health Credentials as hand hygiene auditor Current qualifications and accreditation in Victoria as a Nurse Immuniser Demonstrated knowledge and skills in systems and processes aligned with Infection Prevention and Control services
