: The Director Light Rail Operations and Performance in the Light Rail Operations team is responsible for leading operational and performance management and assurance of Canberra Metro’s performance and delivery under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Project Agreement.The Director Light Rail Operations and Performance supports the Executive Branch Manager Light Rail Operations by providing advice on operational and performance of light rail operations and preparing reports that reflect these outcomes.
The role is responsible for engaging with Canberra Metro (and other ACT Government and external stakeholders) to ensure that contractual obligations related to light rail operations and performance under the Project Agreement are met.
The role is responsible for overseeing Service Delivery, Customer Experience, Community Engagement, Communications, and Safety in an operational environment.
Effective stakeholder engagement skills are a key enabler in the performance of this role, as is a values-based leadership style.
This role has oversight of the performance of CMET’s Service Delivery, Customer Experience, and Safety teams, as well as direct supervision for 1 external advisory contract service.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
Rail operations knowledge in a complex operational/contractual environment is highly desirable or other public transport or complex operations experience. Understanding of the complexity of managing outsourced operational contracts in Public Private Partnerships or partnering arrangements is desirable. Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP): Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - May be required to participate in drug and/or alcohol testing in accordance with Rail Safety National Law as part of Canberra Metro’s safety requirements.Notes: This is a temporary position available from 19 September until 29 October 2024. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position is located in a designated Activity Based Working (ABW) environment. ABW is a transformation in the way we work. By creating flexible workplaces with a variety of different work settings, we are better able to support every kind of employee, their job function, and individual preferences for comfort and space. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT. This position is available to ACT Government officers and employees only.
